Sell your stuff

As a lot of us have a shitload of records and maybe are interested in selling some why not make a topic about it (instead of putting it on discogs and/or ebay) (this is not for your label or artist stuff but for stuff you have double or don't like anymore).

Still looking for a copy of Xela - the dead sea. If anyone wants to part, let me know. |
vinyl? |
The Dead Sea isn't that rare. A quick look on discogs and I could pick up the CD for £10 and the Vinyl for £20. Unless you're after the black vinyl that is. |

umberto-from the grave...(RED wax -permanent rec.) name yr price|trade almost everything. lawrence english-the peregrine(clear wax)decent price|trade I know its on discoga but I made a pact with myself not to buy anything from that fucker ulixes. |
I didn't know the Peregrine came on anything but clear vinyl did it? |
No, just the initial copies ordered direct from Experimedia were on clear wax, the rest on black. Thought all copies of Dead Sea are on red, no? Except for tests, of course... |

I'm glad this thread exists! I'm moving to San Francisco in a few months and closer to that time will - with great sadness - be selling a chunk of my records to help pay for the move and ensuing indeterminate period of joblessness. I've sold/sell plenty on discogs but like to sell through forums full of people I know are Cool Dudes (or ladies, although I don't think any are here) instead. |
I'm still looking for a mint copy of Arovane - Tides. And I would never buy from Ulixes. |
what's wrong with this Ulixes individual? |
ulixes tends to have records for sale at insanely high prices, often not long after the record came out. |
My issue is that he buys all new limited / special editions, etc at regular prices and then sells them at over-inflated prices. We're all on Discogs to sell|buy records, but we're usually here to sell our extras or things that we no longer want, then re-invest in other records. This is a business for him, it's not about the music and about caring about supporting the industry. |
yeah that's really lame. I'll sell newly released CDs sometimes but that's becuase generally I bought them to support the artist, ripped them to my computer, burned a new copy on a blank CD to play on my stereo/car/wherever, and then no longer needed or had the space for the original, and since small format artwork and stuff doesn't do much for me, there's no point in keeping them. But buying up limited releases with the sole intent of flipping them for a profit is scummy. I'mall for selling stuff you don't want or decide you don't listen to enough to justify hanging onto but a profit-driven motive seems dishonest. |
It's crossed my mind a few times when buying stuff. Buy a couple of copies of the limited edition knowing that you can clean up on ebay a few months later. People have always done it and while labels make limited edition stuff people always will. |
I hate it when people do that. And because there are a lot of people here who actually buy music for the love of the music and not to make a profit I though this was a good idea. I am thinking about maybe selling some things I have on both CD and vinyl (though not everything). In that case the CD can leave the house as I never play them (they get ripped and end up on the shelves). |

What annoys me most about this Ulixes guy is, that he doesn't even wait until the limited editions are sold out. Even when the records are stil available everywhere, he immediately puts them up for sale for 29.95€ and upwards. So it's not the fact, that he carved out a nice little niche for himself, but the utterly arrant way of simply giving a fuck. I have a nice little business on discogs, too, but it's mainly for fueling the cycle, so I can finance my record-needs just with my discogs sales (which really decreases the bad conscience about buying so much). Can't imagine, Ulixes is doing the same. He's a greedy bastard. |
people will do that always of course. but here it's just too obvious and not supporting artist and labels at all. i would be ashamed and in the end people like him kill all these little labels. but even if you miss a very limited one, i would never never buy from him. but there must still people doing it, sadly. had a long discussion about him with Adam from Champion Version. he said that he tries to block his email from the list, but you know how hard this is. |

I have a number of LP's that I no longer listen to that I'm willing to part with. These include Barn Owl - The Conjurer (Black), Helm - Den of the Spirits, Kurt Vile - Fall Demons. Shameless plug, but get in touch if you're interested. http://www.discogs.com/user/vintagewardrobe And yes, people like Ulixes are just being greedy. I've tried once to get something from him, and he raised the price while I was trying to buy the record! Will never do business with the guy again. |

Sorry for the multiple postings. I need a stake in the ground on the main threads for sorting out the spam. If anyone wants either of these http://www.discogs.com/Longview-What-Happened-When-Longview-And-Ulrich-Schnauss-Converged/release/236394 or http://www.discogs.com/Pillow-Flowing-Seasons/release/971969 then you can have them for postage cost. They're off to the charity shop otherwise. |

@Vintageward, I sent you a message on Discogs about that The Conjurer LP :) I hope we can make a deal. Things I'm willing to trade/sell (for a normal price): Goldmund - The Malady of Elegance LP Meg Baird - Dear Companion LP Marissa Nadler - Songs III : Bird on the Water LP Mazzy Star - So Tonight I Can See (Plain reissue) LP |

Love this thread idea. Very tired of Discogs and ebay. I have a green vinyl version of Sufferers by Mike Shiflet that I'd be happy to trade. @maanvaarder Any interest in swapping that for your Mazzy Star LP? |
@Super-receptor: Not a big fan of Mike Shiflet's music so I'll have to decline I'm afraid :) |
@ maanvaarder Where are you? I'm into the Nadler lp but I'm afraid shipping to Canada may kill the worthiness. Let me know anyway, please. |
@tint: I live in the Netherlands :) |

I have the two Umberto albums on vinyl for sale, in case anyone is interested. (I am going to purchase the tape versions instead.) "From The Grave..." is the first pressing on black vinyl and it has been played once. "Prophecy Of The Black Widow" is the first (and only) pressing on black vinyl and it has been played once. Tiny tear on one side of the vinyl, should be added. The items are up for sale on Discogs, too, but I am somewhat more lenient in terms of offers here. Trade offers may be accepted. |
