@ jan arne It's pretty intense! I quite like their style of 'in the red' music so I enjoy it but it is certainly intense. B side is a little less so but still good! This is the only 7" I have by them. Haven't had the time or courage to spin the lp...you? |
|
|
@tint Have given the album a spin already, but only once. There's a more distinct drone undercurrent, neatly contrasting with the washed-out riffing and vocals way down in the mix. Excellent stuff, if you ask me. However, there are a few slower tracks, more introverted and - for want of a better word - ambient, which didn't do much for me at all. So, not totally sold on the album yet. Only listened to it once, mind, while cleaning. Very interested in your impressions (and a comparison to the 7") once you've listened to it. |

Finally my box with LP's from Social Music Records Club has arrived. The Bats & Califone - Holiday / Silver + Gold That's about 4 months after ordering. Only order to take longer is my own CD, which is now 7 months of waiting.

I was having buyer's remorse while listening to Julia Holter's Ecstasis but then I realized my turntable was on the wrong speed. Reminds me of Kendra Smith. |
|
|
haha that's awesome! Was it too fast or too slow? I like Julia Holter a whole lot and I'll be buying the new one when I see her this week! |

There's more too life then buying stuff. You can't buy the love of a human being. There's nothing more fulfilling then to love, and to be loved. The warmth of a deep relationship is so much more important than any physical object. And what is a record collection if you're lonely? Everything pales in comparison to intimate human connection.
Apart from that, I bought THIS:
Gang Colours - The Keychain Collection Quakers - Quakers Massive Attack - Blue Lines Massive Attack - Protection Hulk Hodn & Hubert Daviz - Kaseta Bon Iver - Bon Iver Marvin Gaye - What's Going On Sofa Surfers - Encounters Alex Cortex - Laconic The Future Sound of London - Accelerator Colin Towns - Full Circle OST Kid Loko - DJ-Kicks EP Richard Chartier - Transparency Giuseppe Ielasi - Aix Will Montgomery & Robert Curgenven - Winds The Alps - III (Everthing vinyl, except for Richard Chartier!) |

@John Zorn. Ahhh beautiful. Nearly made me think my kids were more important than my vinyl. |

Glad to see I didn't succeed! |

Ballister ~ Mechanisms CD at a gig the other week. So so great. They get into Powerhouse Sound groove at times... Was a bit disappointed when I heard The Engines stuff afterward though. |
