What would you like to see Type release on vinyl?

i remember hearing about a cd release of mountain mountains mountains with extra material. not sure if that's still the case, though. |

The best thing Mountains-related in my eyes, is actually the a-side of the "Make Haste" LP on A Room Forever...especially this balearic hazyness at the end (Second Sample: http://boomkat.com/vinyl/99168-koen-holtkamp-ma...) Sadly, this approach wasn't followed further... |

I don't have that one so don't know. |

I agree with John Zorn regarding the a-side of the "Make Haste" lp. Fantastic record! By far the most solid Mountians-related release. |

Loren MazzaCane Connors - Long Nights.
someone has to do this. |
I agree about the LMC reissue. My LMC pick would be Airs - my fav from his discog. |
Harold Budd - Avalon Sutra |

Second that. Although Samadhisound did a fantastic job with the packaging of the CD Version. A really beautiful item I don't want to miss. On another note: I'm really surprised, that no one took the chance yet, to re-release Deathprods "Morals & Dogma" on 2LP. Easy money, if you ask me. May be I get in touch with Rune Gramofon and do it myself :D |

Hmm, I love Avalon Sutra, but wouldn't like to see the second cd to be split in two, or three or four to fit on vinyl...totally destroys the feeling of the track. |
Really a shame that no one has seen fit to put Skullflower's "Orange Canyon Mind" on LP |
LEE RANALDO. some of his ambient/noise stuff. |
Not sure if it's Type, but someone should put out some Rain Drinkers vinyl |
So what about Mossy now? |
Troy Schafer - Evening Song Awaken |

Just saw that listing as well! Temporary Residence has always been a great label, and it's really cool to see them getting more into these fancy vinyl boxsets - first it was the flipping gorgeous Eluvium one, then the one for The Books, and now this. Of course, at $275 there's no way I'll be buying it, but it's nice to see that someone has the resources and will to make it happen.
EDIT: Facebook post from Temp Res. reads "There's a lot of news floating around about William Basinski's "The Disintegration Loops" box set we are releasing. Some of it is true, some of it is not. It's all based on rumor and cobble-togethed bit of somewhat speculative/presumed information, as we have obviously not made a formal announcement. Please hang tight, we'll make a formal announcement within 24 hours, including a pre-order link. Thanks for your patience and support! This will be something special." |

This is now up for pre-order on the Temporary Residence site, and it's gonna take all my will power to resist ordering it. Especially since I'm going to see the Disintegration Loops live on Sunday. But $225 plus shipping - ouch! Yeah, agreed their fancy boxsets have been super-high quality. I've got the Eluvium one, which is gorgeous, but skipped out on The Books one - I didn't really see the point in that one to be honest, since all their albums had recently been re-released anyway. But I think the Basinski box will be even nicer. Only thing I'd change is that I'd do away with the 5xCDs and replace them with download codes, would bring the overall price down. |

I didn't get The Books set either, mainly because while I think they're interesting and had a cool approach to music, I don't actually want to listen to them all that much and I pretty much never get through a whole album at once. But yeah, the Eluvium set is SO well done, in every respect. This Basinski box is likely to be beautifully done. I asked on the Temp Res facebook page about how they were handling the fact that most of the pieces are way longer than a side of vinyl could handle, and Jeremy posted: "For the tracks that are longer than 20 mins, the pieces have a long, slow fade on them, to ensure the highest quality audio reproduction on each side of vinyl. We used the vinyl releases of vintage neoclassical and ambient records as a reference for respectful side breaks, since all of those release predate CDs (Eno, Reich, etc.)...The fades are also executed in rhythm to the loops, so it happens very naturally and organically while you're listening." All of which is very reassuring. That being said, there's no way I can afford this. I agree, there's no need for the CDs, high quality downloads would have been fine, but even if you knock $25 off the price, I still couldn't spring for it. Very sad times. |

@wombat: cool, thanks for the additional info. All sounds very promising doesn't it! As for The Books, well, I'm a big fan actually - but I already had all of the original Tomlab pressings so didn't need the Temporary Residence re-presses, let alone the boxset! I think these kind of sets are best reserved for stuff that's never been pressed on vinyl before, or stuff that's definitely out of print. I asked TRL about distros etc. and they told me the Basinski box will be making it to some UK/Euro distros and shops (including Norman Records), so I'm gonna wait to see what the price is then. I'd also like to see some more photos of it. Basically my plan is to call in about 5 years worth of future birthday presents for this one! |

This is great news for all those that have been hoping for it and obviously if Basinski himself is involved then it must have been carefully thought through. But personally - I don't get it? For me the Disintergration Loops were all about the digitisation of decaying analogue recordings, capturing and freezing this ageing process in the impermeable ones and zeros of the digital domain. Returning these recordings to an analogue medium would seem to completely subvert this idea. But maybe that's the plan - to use the vinyl in another 20 years to create a whole new set of loops, even more disintergrated than the last? Come to think about it, Basinski might be onto something here.... |
I know what you mean, but I actually think it's more interesting that this is going back to analogue. Like it's gone full circle or something. |
When I met Basinski a few weeks ago at his concert he told about this, and sounds all pretty nice to me. But the price is really too steep for me. |
Perhaps TR will release them seperately, too. Any info about that? |
Sadly, the short answer is "definitely not." The vinyl is being considered a one-time-only set, and since it's being advertised that way it seems pretty much impossible that TRL would ever allow it to be repressed. |
Any chance of a repress of the fist two Richard Skelton LPs on type? The ebay/discogs prices are way too high |
