The title says it all. A couple of mine include

North Sea - Blood Lines

Kenseth Thibideau - Repetiton

Daniel Bjarnason - Processions

Danny Paul Grody - Fountain

Kyle Bobby Dunn - A Young Persons Guide to...

So much more good stuff this year too. I've heard well over 100 albums thus far and while not all were good certainly there were lots of amazing ones. Makes me happy.

Go!

oh yeah, that Grasslung CD is getting lot's of time on my headphones lately. Some of the best ambient I've heard in awhile. Root Strata does it again.

@Pete: that Richard Youngs album is from last year. Though love it a lot :-)

*of course didn't inlcude any of the releases I did on my label (DUH)

Yau-xylor-jane-web_medium pete swans 92 Posts

yeah..  the Youngs is a reissue, I know..  the OG issue didn't make it to me..  I thought about that after I listed it...

if I was including reissues, I'd add all the Koner records, the MB reissues, the Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat LP and the Shangaan Electro double LP..

That Forest Swords LP is real good..  As is the Seth Nehil LP "Knife"

lots of stuff I don't know on other folks' lists and a lot of stuff I just didn't like at all.  I think I need to check that Ariel Pink record..  I hate the current "80s" obsession as much as I hate the new age synth noodling, but people I know that are harsher critics than I am LOVE "Before Today"

oh shit..  and that Dadawah reish..  "Peace and Love"  WOWOWOWOWOW.

if i should include reissues indeed the Köner ones would be in it also, along with Ben Frost's album from last year

Ariel Pink's new record I don't know about...heard some pieces but didn't grab me at all.

Btw. very much looking forward to the new Richard Youngs album on Volcanic Tongue. Should be more psyched out stuff. Should arrive one of the coming days...

I missed that Call Back the Giants 7", but caught them live at Cafe Oto the other night, along with Graham Lambkin and Helm. Awesome! Apparently there is a Call Back the Giants LP coming out on Kye in a couple of weeks.

I'll second the Demdike Stare LPs, Actress, Seth Nehil - Knives LP, Darksmith LP, Yellow Swans LP, Rene Hell stuff. Also, i really enjoyed the Ariel Pink record, definitely up there for me :)

Also:

LA Vampires meets Zola Jesus LP

Jason Lescalleet - Fantasy and Electricity 7"

Sam Goldberg - Current LP

Parson Sound 3LP reissue

Oh and Drake's "Thank me later" has been getting heavy play on the ipod :)

pale blue sky - "shades of grey"

afternoon penis side of the eskimo king split lp

tonetta lp

ripped krampus cs (not released yet)

folded shirt 7" (find this)

homostupids "the load"

factorymen "shit man" (probably my fave)

i hate this 80's shit as well as the most abused phrase of 2010 which is "new age" because everything labeled as such is not "new age." find the birds of passage cs before you utter those words, please. wasnt into the new ariel pink, alan parsons project zone is not for me.

Helm - To An End,
Nicolas Szczepanik - Dear Dad,
Jon Mueller & Jason Kahn - Phase,
Forest Swords - Dagger Paths,
Marsfield - The Towering Sky,

and a couple from Type (including the Koner reissues) would definitely be in there.

Alan Parsons Project sounds about as terrible as it comes.  Only thing worse would be more zep or fleetwood worship. if the shit sucks to begin with, why rip it off?  I'll give anything a chance on it's own merit tho and I have enough friends who love that Ariel Pink record that I figure I should scope it out even tho I basically hate 99.999% of rock music out there.

ACTRESS keeps coming up too, guess I should check it out

New Age, Kosmiche..  whatever...  most synth music happening now is not very interesting or innovative..  most of the OG "REAL" new age shit sucks.  FUCK A CRYSTAL.

there are some interesting synth LPs tho..  such as..............

CALL BACK THE GIANTS LP ON THE WAY???  HOLY FUCK.  STOKED.

just found out about a new Orcutt LP too.  FUH.

my 2010 favorites to date have been the following:

sean mccann: chances are staying LP
happy birthday: happy birthday LP
ruth garbus: rendezvous with rama CD
emeralds: does it look like im here LP
alessandro bosetti: zwolfzungen CD
bats in the belfry: in bloom CDR
pospulenn: sleepwalker CS
queen victoria: there will come soft rains CS
horse marriage: mr. tower's dead trophy LP

and only got it a few days ago, but probably that Donovan Quinn LP will be a contender.

those are probably not THE BEST or anything, but i've kinda just been getting a really random selection of tunes this year for whatever reason and i have been passing up records i'd normally buy and then later on buying stuff on a whim.

I'm looking forward to some new Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac

oh yeah, the big boi album rules.  i've been totally converted/corrupted this year.

don't even know where to start on my fave tapes this year after bongo closet.  i'd pick all the borft tapes i got this year but they're all 10+ years old.

Scoped Ariel Pink..  not my thing...  Actress..  nope...

BIG BOI.  I like a few tracks.  not the whole album..  every two or three years some hip hop artist will really nail an album, but usually it's just a few singles and that's all that does it for me..  the hits on the Big Boi LP are HUGE tho.

tapes for this year?  ummm..  POLYPS.  GIFT...  KFW tapes.  REL...

good call on Indignant Senility even tho..  you know.. it's really a reissue..  can't wait to hear the yoyodieting & Lil B stuff.  WOOOAH.

there are few things I hate more than Zepplin or Fleetwood Mac.

YYD LP on Weird Forest is probably gonna be my album of the year...

You should give the Actress a 2nd chance... super zonked dancefloor vibes.

the Scott Tuma album got lost in the shuffle this year, don't ya think? It's superb but I haven't heard much rumblings about  it like there were for Not For nobody.

The Thomas Koner reissues are top-notch

yeah mike, i think it did.  i'm optimistic, though, that with the CD version on the way here pretty soon (the bonus tracks on it w/ jim becker are crazy good), it'll give it a boost, especially since it's easier to do more promo w/ CDs vs just LPs.

"Dandelion" is superb and it's in a dog fight with "Going Places" for my #1 this year.

@digitalis: speaking of "Not For Nobody", any possibility of it getting the wax treatment?
