Hey Larry, is that Umberto 12" available to order or have you been listening to his Bandcamp?

Errrm, it fell off the back of the back of a lorry officer.

Not sure when No Fear Of Pop are doing the vinyl, but it looks to be in the pipeline.

Just played Pink Floyd - Relics on vinyl and now up for some Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. - La Nòvia on CD (having this on LP is like having a Van Gogh painting cut in two pieces one side on the left wall in the house and the other on the right wall of the house...)

The price for the most misguided artistic decision of the year goes to the inclusion of vocals on the new Black to Comm Album...it's flat-out unbearable. What was he thinking? This really sounds like the drunken retard-brother of David Sylvain...terrible

The vocal really put me off buying it, the tracks I'd heard I didn't like at all.

are there some samples on the net where you can hear the singing?

Completely agree, I'm sad to say. I really love his earlier stuff but I couldn't get all the way through this new one without getting fed up with the vocals. Ruins the album for me, unfortunately.

I really have to laugh when listening to this...there was obvious care, money and attention that went into that video, and it's all ruined by a completely baffling and wholly unnecessary garbage vocal inclusion...from now on, I certainly won't buy a Black to Comm release on sight anymore. And I really can't imagine in the slightest, that there's anyone outside the (80% dubious) creative team behind De Stijl, that really enjoys this piece of pretentious and (from a technical point of view) horrible singing-peformance...man, it really goes on my nerves, when promising and/or established artists shoot themselves in the foot with idiotic decisions like this...

Just for the record, I didn't like the samples I heard that much either, but completely support the fact that Marc makes and releases the music he wants to, rather than just what his audience expects him to.

(Please don't respond to this, these kind of 'arguments' are pointless - just thought the guy deserved a bit of support).

John Zorn.....That's your opinion my good man and your entitled to it. Personally I love it when "promising and/or established" artists take risks, and thank god that some still do, even if they don't always come off (as is perhaps the case this time around, sadly).

I don't know what the, er, "80% dubious" creative team at De Stijl (I think it's a great little label) has to do with the inclusion of vocals on the record. I presume that was the artists creative decision.

Don't forget this is a soundtrack record... It may suit the film perfectly.  It's definitely not something for my taste, but I'm sure it has its audience. I'd suppose I'd rather have something different (even if I don't like it) than another dark ambient record... there's more than enough of them to go around already!

@forcedbloom: best of luck with the tour, totally worth the effort. chin up ;)

Absolutely, I'd imagine it works perfecly as a soundtrack and you always have to respect an artist pushing himself in different directions than the one that most expect them to take.

ha, I actually dig it (and I'm not trying to be contrary). It's really fuckin' weird, ugly and completely unexpected... very ballsy move. Scott Walker is one of my favorite vocalists so I don't think that it's that leftfield, vocally. I can totally see why people hate it though.

I like when artists take risks too. And I firmly believe that no artist owes anything to his or her audience whatsoever. Artists should be able to do what they want with their art ideally completely free from a hypothetical audience's expectations or desires. At the same time, no audience owes anything to the artist whose work they are viewing or experiencing. Certainly an audience member doesn't owe praise for an artistic decision that, while it was the artist's complete right to make, the audience member doesn't like. It's a two way street in that regard. I think it's cool that BtC went in a new direction (well, new for him anyway. Adding vocals to this kind of music seems pretty common these days); I also don't want to listen to it. Thankfully the two aren't mutually exclusive!
