I've been on a real Mississippi Records kick lately. Been playing the following on rotation for the past few days: Ali Birra - Ammalele Henry Thomas - Bulldoze Blues Lewlewal de Podor - Yilo Jaam Orchestre Regional de Mopti - Les Meilleurs Souvenirs De La 1ere Biennale Artistique et Culturelle de la Jeunesse Boyd Rivers - You Can't Make Me Doubt Eddie Lee Jones - Yonder Goes That Old Black Dog L'Orchestre National A de la Republiqe de Mali V/A - Street Music Of Yogyakarta
And been mixing things up even more with the new Zelienople, which is really fantastic. |

@John Z: the second volume is now up on bandcamp (digital only), ask John T about it. |

Zelienople - The World Is A House On Fire Really hope mr. Carter walks that beach again soon.

Listening to “Teimo” by Thomas Könernow. Great stuff to crunch code to. |

Oh man, the new Zelienople album is SO good. I wasn't paying much attention the first couple times I listened to it, but after giving it the attention it deserves I've been listening to almost nothing else for the past couple days. Any chance of a tour at some point? |

thanks Wombat, glad you're digging it. As for the tour idea, it's kind of difficult for us to do so. We would love to go to Europe but we don't have the spare time to spend more than a week so that limits its cost effectiveness (airfare for four). American tours for this kind of music is hit and miss...mostly miss esp. with high gas prices. However, we are planning a couple of shows in NYC in early november. We're doing a collaboration with Mind Over Mirrors at Issue Project Room on Sat. NOv. 17th and I'm looking to book a regular Zelienople show on Thursday the 15th somewhere in either Brooklyn or Manhattan. We're up for suggestions/invitations/grants! While I'm here I'll post my recent spins.... Cut Hands Vol. 2; Fennesz/Tony Buck/David Daniell - Knoxville; Tibeten Buddhist ritual music on the Explorer Series; New Order - Substance. -mike |

Hmm, bummer that it's tough to tour here in the states! I might know of some possible show opportunities in NY - I'm not there myself anymore but I know some people who play at various cool locales that might know how to set up a show, or who to get in touch with anyway. You guys should try and swing by Philly too! Maybe play the First Unitarian Church Side Chapel or something. There's a lot of great smaller venues worth a look. |

Dead Can Dance - Anastasis. Weird hearing a new DCD LP after all these years and crap solo records. |
|
|
Svarte Greiner - Knive
It's been a while since I had that on, really good album. |
|
|
whow! Knive is my favourite album! |

Helm - Impossible Symmetry. Younger does it again, third year in a row he'll probably be in my top few releases. Also from PAN, looking forward to the forthcoming Dilloway/Lescalleet 'Grapes & Snakes' LP..... |

David Kilgour's Here Come the Cars reissue vinyl over and over! |

Willits + Sakamoto - Ancient Future Evan Caminiti - Dreamless Sleep Pillars and Tongues - the pass and crossings Thomas Bel - Innerly Raglani - Husk Christine Fowler - Classical Pieces Haxan Cloak - The Men Parted The Sea To Devour The Water Lepenik - poSTepeno |
|
|
Amazing how boring the new Sakamoto/Willits record is...lazy and aimless ambient scapes without a hint of substance. Compared to the majestic Ambient records on Glacial Movements this year, it's even more lame. |

Yeah I have to say after a couple of listens it's left absolutely no impression on me at all. Shame really. |

Broke my glasses, so got an enforced day off work! No way I'm using a computer with my nose 4cm from the screen for 8 hours :-) So, a long day with lots of music - have to say LPs are a pain in the rear when you can't see to cue the needle right.
