Deaf Center - Owl Splinters

@Kerosen: Don't you think your valuation is just a little bit inflated - I mean, most of the things on your wantlist are 40+ EUR. Hardly seems like a fair trade to me, especially for an LP that is only a week old! |
And by the way, I listened to the stream of this today and, yep, it's marvellous |
Next to the new Tim Hecker and Stephan Mathieu, Owl Splinters is by far the best thing I heard this year by now...especially the quieter passages with those dreamy piano motives..beautiful John, one question (I know, that I'm always the one asking): Can you give a few details about upcoming Type releases? |
@hemingway cat. I didn't force anyone to trade. As a matter of fact I almost completed the exchange.can be a bit inflated I dont know, but maybe someone has spares. remember is limited to 100 copies on clear.how much does pale ravine sell for, now?imagine owl splinters in a couple of years.

Glad to know it arrived safe and sound mate ;) |

Be interesting to see if Amazon ship one. They must get told by the distro that they're going to be available. If Team Norman don't get their allocation then you'd hope that none go to the fools ordering on HMV/Amazon. |
I think bigger/generic sellers like Amazon get their stocks from the regional distributors. I've actually seen (for instance) Amazon.co.uk listing 'Forced Exposure' as a record's label, so my guess is FE is still the source. Plenty of websites will list a record as available when they don't in fact have it in stock. They just order it from somewhere like FE as soon as they receive an order for one. Pretty silly game, really, but it helps retailers like that maintain the "we have everything" motto. |
HMV is the worst for this, they list some absurdly rare stuff as being totally available. So don't ever sweat it for those out-of-print Type releases - the dog will sort ya out... |
Deaf Center black vinyl+CD, Jazkamer vinyl+CD, and Sanso XTro vinyl is now in at Forced Exposure. You should be able to get coloured vinyl of Sanso. |

Is there a lock-groove at the end of Side 1, or is it just by accident that the clicks/noise at the end sound in keeping with the LP? I've been sat here for a good 5 minutes before I noticed it was the end of the side. |
Yep it's a locked groove :) |
Do I win a prize? Just side 1 I take it? |
yeah just side one |

After all that stress. Copies now in at Norman. http://www.normanrecords.com/vinyl/122619-deaf-center-owl-splinters |

Phew, got my copy from FE today. Unfortunately, I was a little um, EAGER to get the bonus CD out, and..... ripped a nice pinky sized chunk out of the LP sleeve. :( I'm not much of a collector, but... One would think one would learn a lesson after the Rene Hell situation. This bonus disc is incredible so far... |
( That "one" being me to learn a lesson. ) |
Been listening to the Svarte Greiner bonus CD and it's absolutely fantastic. |
Aaah, the ripped sleeves...still mourn about my damaged Ledesma Sleeve... But yes, the Svarte Greiner Bonus CD is wonderful |
Is the CD actually stuck to the sleeve then? I haven't bothered with the CD yet. I'll probably just wait until someone leaks the CD and listen to that and leave the CD unopened. |
I am stil waiting for my copy from boomkat:( |
The CD isn't individually wrapped. The cardboard sleeve is stuck onto the LP sleeve with a little glob of glue, wasn't much trouble getting it off without tearing. |

"Amazon.co.uk items (Sold by Amazon EU S.a.r.L.): 1 Owl Splinters [VINYL] £13.00 1 £13.00 Dispatched via Royal Mail (estimated arrival date: February 17, 2011)." Well I never! I will now have two copies. |

John, I was just wondering what was the point in including bonus CDs with LPs only? I mean, I was so eager to get my hands on the SG Twin CD that I bought the LP even though I don't do vinyl... I'll buy the DC CD also anyway. My point is: I would have paid the same price for the bonus CD alone and now I have an unnecessary LP on my hands. No big deal, and I'm not arguing, but I'd really like to understand the logic behind this choice, if you care to explain. Cheers. |

Sell the vinyl and you'll end up getting both CDs for free most likely |
